SUMMARY

† Michel LABROUSSE, Jacqueline LABROUSSE, Richard BOUDET, The Cross-stamped Gallic Coinage ofthe Treasury from Dunes (Tarn-et-Garonne)

This treasury was found in 1978 : it contained 490 silver coins, belonging to all important listed groups of the cross-stamped gallic coinage. It will be compared to other deposits unburied from the border area of " Grand-Quercy ", especially to the deposit in Saint-Étienne-des-Landes (Dordogne). The burial of such coin stocks seems to be connected either to the turmoil induced by the wandering-about of Cimbers and Teutons in the land of Nitiobroges at the end of second century BC, or to some religions practice localized within the borders of the Cadurcean territory.

Georges BACCRABÈRE, Funerary Pits and Graves of the St-Roch Area in Toulouse, dating of IId and Ist Centuries BC

The identified excavations were located south of Toulouse, between the Garonne river and the Pech-David hills, next to St-Roch street or in the Ste-Germaine burrough. The twenty observed funerary pits and the ten graves contained generally material belonging to two cultures : italian - or spanish-imported earthware, and native traditional pottery. This material helped to the dating of some ten pits or graves at the first half of the Ist century BC. To some extent, these pits were clustered and seemed to be in relation to funerary practice, which is not fully understood.

Maurice SCELLES, The ancient Church " Notre-Dame la Daurade " in Toulouse

This essay is an attempt to cross-examinate our whole knowledge on the ancient church " NotreDame la Daurade ", which was pulled down during XVIIIth century. Historical sources, architectural data and building decoration, explanations and datings are investigated.

Jean-Charles ARRAMOND, Jean-Luc BOUDARTCHOUK, Henri MOLET, The ancient Church " Saint-Pierre - Saint-Géraud de la Pierre " in Toulouse

The archaeological works of " Place Esquirol " led by J.-Ch. Arramond in 1992-93, threw some light on the history of the ancient church St-Pierre - St-Géraud, destroyed at the beginning of the XIXth century. This was obtained by the excavation of nearest surroundings of the ancient building and the discovery of unpublished archive records.

Gilles SÉRAPHIN, Towers and Rounded-angle civilian Buildings of mediaeval Castra in " Fumélois "

An exploration through villages of the Fumel district (Lot-et-Garonne) has revealed a new series of mediaeval structures, built from stones and characterized by rounded-angle wall shapes. These buildings were clustered into a well-localized district area. All of them were associated to ancient castra. Historical, technical and stylistic records lead to suggest a dating of these structures between the middle of XIth century and the end of XIIth century. Considering this heavily threatened piece of patrimony, an archaeological recognition becomes an emergency.

Pierre GÉRARD, The Archdeacon Land of Villelongue in the XIIth Century

The archdeacon land of Villelongue was located between the Garonne and the Tarn rivers, starting from their junction and, in the South-West, bound to a border-line from St-Sulpice to Toulouse. It contained up to 128 churches during XIIth century. Till the year 1237, it was ruled by the St-Sernin Chapter which used to delegate one of its members as the archdeacon. This subdivision of the ancient Toulouse diocese was progressively dismantled between the end of XIIth century and the middle of XVIth century.

Pascal JULIEN, Two Drawings of Jean Chalette for the Council Feasts and solemn Days

Jean Chalette was appointed as official painter of the Toulouse Town-hall, during the first half of XVIIth century ; as such, he conceived the scenery of feasts and ceremonies of public life. The collection of graphic records and complementary manuscripts enlightened this poorly known aspect of the artist's life : he was most attached to allegory and antic-style scenery. The study first brought new information on the sumptuous nautical house created in 1632 for Ann of Austria, it also allowed to ascribe to Chalette the drawings of a magnificent votive work, the reliquary dedicated to St Edmund, after the dreadful pestis epidemy of 1628-1631.
